Porcelain elf

Winter forest elf with chenille dress and hat, synthetic fur, bells, berries and leaves.

Holly was widely used in Roman times when, during the winter solstice and during the Saturnalia rites held around December 22nd, twigs were pinned on clothes to keep evil spells and witchcraft away. The same value had for the Germanic peoples and for the British who saw in its red berries the symbol of winter fertility, a promise of a return to light and warmth.

The Holly King is also the protagonist of a legend that sees him dominate from the summer solstice until the following winter solstice, until, in an eternal cycle of light/darkness, life/death, activity/rest, he will not return his counterpart, the Oak King, to claim the throne.

NB: it is a handmade product, entirely handmade. The photo must be considered purely indicative, since each piece is subject to slight modifications (fabrics and finishes), which however do not alter its peculiar characteristics, increasing its value.

Please specify any special requests (concerning the color of the dress or hair) when ordering.
