Calicantus

The name of Calicanto is of Greek origin and means Winter Flower. A legend tells of a robin who, tired and cold, was looking for shelter to rest, protect himself and warm up a bit. But in winter all the trees are bare and thin, except the Calicanto. The shrub called the robin to itself, hosted him in its branches and warmed it with its yellowed leaves. Frost, who had seen his nice gesture, wanted to reward Calicanto and let a shower of brilliant and perfumed stars fall on the tree. It is for this legend that Calicanto is associated with protection.
